4 New Changes Coming to Google that Will Affect Your SEO
Google is one of the largest technology companies in the world. It processes over 40,000 search queries every second, which is over 3.5 billion searches each day. Many companies take to Google to advertise and pay to have their page visible when certain keywords are searched. Google is coming out with several new changes that will affect any company who advertises with them.
Here are four search changes coming to Google:
Expanded Text Ads
Later this year Google AdWords will be testing expanded text ads. This means that character limit will increase for the headline as well as the description. With this increase, it will, in essence, double the size of the ad. In order to be able to do this, your company has to apply to be whitelisted by Google. Once you are accepted you can have search ads with the increased character limit.
In February the right hand rail ads were removed from Google’s search results. Now, in the competitive auctions, the number of ads shown above the organic results has increased from 3 to 4. The decrease in available ad spots has caused a higher demand for these premium spots.
Desktop and Tablet Bidding
You will now be able to bid on tablet, desktop and mobile, separately. Before this change, tablets and desktops were grouped together in one category for bidding. This will officially be released in the upcoming months.
In a search ad there will be a text icon. Users can click this to message the company desired. This will be launched and sent through their SMS app and it will include a predetermined message. The client will provide Google with an SMS capable number in which these messages will be sent to. The user and the company can continue to have a conversation over SMS. You will need to apply in order to be whitelisted for this service as well. It is still in the testing stages.
